TheDollyDeLong: Easter 2017

Because of the post’s photo, you probably think this post is only going to be dedicated to my first married Easter, and you are probably rolling your eyes at me because I am ridiculous about how much I love my Husband (Ty). But, as much as I love him (and as much as I love spending time with him) I was thrilled that it was Easter weekend for deeper reasons and I have just been thinking a lot about how good and wonderful God is, and how happy I am because He is in my life!

I know this is something that I know logically, intellectually, and emotionally (and I have grown up hearing about this in sermons over and over and over and over again) but sometimes I have moments where it is like a wave of realization crashing over me about how GOOD I have it (how GOOD we ALL have it) because of how much Jesus did for us! As good as I have it on earth right now, there is something so much better waiting for me (after this life) because of what Jesus accomplished.  I sometimes have to stop myself from getting too overwhelmed with emotion when I think it through (mostly because I don’t want to come across as an overly emotional fuddy-duddy).  (But I am just seriously so grateful and thankful right now!)

There are so many songs that I have been thinking about and thinking through this week that make me so  in awe of how amazing + good our gracious King is to us. I am so relieved we have so much to look forward to after this life, and even though I want this phase of life with being married to my sweet husband to slow down and drag on forever and ever, I so badly want to be with Christ and get to talk with Him & walk with Him in Heaven (not just figuratively but LITERALLY walk with Him).

For those of you who are believers, I hope that this post encourages you all to continue to pursue the sweetness of Christ on a daily basis. It may come in a steady beat, it may come crashing in waves, or it may come in random happenings. Regardless of where you are, continue to dig deeper into getting to know the Love of Christ and see how much real hope that He is offering to you that surpasses ALL the great things of this world. Also, is it not just SO incredible to think that there is so much HOPE being offered to us all as humans? And we are all so undeserving of His Grace because we relentlessly sin, yet He still desires us!

For my unbelieving friends who think I’m an ignorant, hopeless, and air-headed Christian. Hey, I don’t want you to feel like I am belittling you because we don’t share the same core values/beliefs.  I just want to openly share how much I love Christ. I am sorry if other Christians have made you feel less than, put a sour taste in your mouth in the past, or have done something totally unloving towards you that made you ultimately label all Christ-followers as total dummies. I am truly sorry. I just want this post to point straight to Christ (not because I am trying to trick you into believing something) but because I just love sharing how much HOPE Christ has given me! I ultimately hope that this post can just encourage, lift up and inspire ALL to celebrate and study the Resurrection!

I also wanted to share several songs which have been on my mind/heart lately. I hope that you can read/listen through these lyrics and draw closer to The King. I also hope that it points you to the kindness and gentleness of Christ and it reminds you how loved you are (despite your circumstances and despite your past).

“Death In His Grave”

“Because He Lives” (Lyrics)

Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
All fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

“What A Beautiful Name”

Lyrics (just in case you like reading instead of listening)// these Lyrics actually make me tear up when I listen to the part “You Didn’t Want Heaven Without Us, So Jesus, You Brought Heaven Down” (Makes me want to sob in happiness with that line alone!)

Lyrics to “What A Beautiful Name”

You were the Word at the beginning
One With God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ
What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
You didn’t want heaven without us
So Jesus, You brought heaven down
My sin was great, Your love was greater
What could separate us now
What a wonderful Name it is
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
How sweet is your name, Lord, how good You are
Love to sing in the name of the Lord, love to sing for you all?
Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You
You silenced the boast, of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again
You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, Our God reigns
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names
What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, Our God reigns
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names
What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
Anyway…

I also want to share several photos from my Easter! It was such a fun, relaxing and joyful day! And because I just want to end this post with some silly photos/to make you smile!

I hope wherever you are in life, know how much you are loved by Christ the King!

Have a blessed night!
