DollybyDesign: Items of the Month for April 2014

DollybyDesign: Items of the Month for April 2014

As many of you know (or may not know), I use my Etsy Shop to save towards my future Mission Trips (and to bring awareness of missions//needs in India). I am going to be taking the next FULL year (April 2014-April 2015) to sell feature items from my shop so that I can help with the process of fund-raising for my future 2015 trip with Ethos Missions! The overall cost to go to India is usually around $2,500 (this includes ticket cost, meals, room/board, and transportation costs). So I have been thinking of ways that would help with fund-raising efforts, and I thought it would be fun to sell feature items where 100% of the proceeds (from the sale of those items) would go directly to India Missions!

Here are some items I have been working on this month for my Etsy Shop. You can either order them here, or simply message me on Facebook if you are wanting to place an order!

Items of the Month of April (100% of profits will go towards Mission Savings)

1) Rose Earrings (single) = $6.50 (tax + shipping included)

2) Rose Earrings (double//two sets)= $10.50 (tax + shipping included)

3) Floral Mint Green Earrings = $10.50 (tax + shipping included)

4) Floral Hair Comb = $25.00 (tax + shipping included)

Again, your support means so much to me! I love creating, sharing, and saving towards a goal of (hopefully) going back to India to serve my brothers/sisters with the Ethos church plant in NorthEast India!

GOD bless! Love, DollybyDesign 🙂

DollybyDesign: March Item of The Month {Featuring} the Mustard Yellow Leather Clutch

I have been completely SLACKING since November of 2013 (mostly because of the Holidays + my 2nd busiest time of year at work is usually from January to the end of February)! DollybyDesign: Hello 2014!

Hello World! It has been 2 months since I last posted, and I am incredibly sorry for the long absence! Please forgive me! I honestly took advantage of Thanksgiving + Christmas Vacation and RESTED. I really wanted to utilize the 2 weeks I got off of work to WORK on my dollybydesign creations….but sleep was definitely something that won everyday (not productivity). So, now that 2014 has officially kicked in, and we are two weeks into the new year, I decided I needed to start kicking all things dollybydesign related into high gear so that my shoppers/fans/supporters can see what is going to be available in my Etsy shop this year!

OH! And I cannot forget to add: GOD has certainly been blessing me abundantly with opportunities around Nashville! DollybyDesign is now being sold through Sisters of Nature in Nashville (a mobile boutique owned and operated by the lovely Kim Parker). To learn more about Sisters of Nature, check out their website: http://www.sistersofnature.net OR visit her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sistersofnature . If you are a resident of Nashville, and want to shop local, I encourage you to check out sweet Kim’s mobile shop (you will love all the home-made goods and artisan crafts offered to you, the shopper).

Here are some recent items I have made tonight after work (got in a jewelry making frenzy from 5pm to 7pm) so enjoy! I will post these in my Etsy Shop later this week when I get better quality pictures!

Items: Statement Necklaces, Earrings & Hair Accessories

Price Range: $10-$22.50

Thanks again for checking out my shop & blog! I am SO happy to finally be back creating and sharing some fun jewelry pieces!

DIY with DollybyDesign: Holiday Decor with Pinecones!

I noticed I haven’t done a DIY project in ages (maybe it’s because travel season ruled my life from August to November-bah!) but it’s finally over and I have had so many fun (and very EASY) DIY projects I’ve been wanting to share with you all and thankfully it’s just in time for the Holiday Season!

This week I have been visiting my Mother in Florida for Thanksgiving Break. I grew up ALWAYS doing some sort of craft project with my mom, and time spent over creating is always a special time to us. So this week my mom (Beulah) and I  decided to take pinecones and spray paint them gold so that they can be used as a simple centerpiece for Holiday decor.

Here are the materials we used:

1) Pinecones (we bought ours from Michaels for around $2.99 per pack) (Obviously you can get pinecones for free if you live in a beautiful State…LIKE MONTANA) (we bought 2 packs since we both wanted to make some for both of our homes)

2) Gold Spray paint ($7.00 a bottle at Michaels) (we only bought one)

So it only takes 2 items to make this EASY and CHEAP DIY project that will take literally 30-45 minutes of your time! YAY!

Instructions:

STEP 1) make sure you have a clean surface (preferably outside or in a Florida room so you won’t stain or mark anything with the spray paint)

STEP 2) evenly spread out the pinecones and keep in mind to spray them at least 6 inches away from the can (or else they will be gloopy and sloppy looking)

STEP 3) paint one side of the cones, wait 30-45 minutes, then turn them all on the uncolored (natural) side to spray them

STEP 4) once paint is dry find a fun wooden bowl, or a decorative bowl, and place in your house for the Holidays!

ENJOY!

I hope you all are finding fun & creative ways to decorate your homes for this 2013 Holiday Season! I will try to find more time to post additional DIY projects I am going to be working on for my house this year! Until then, Happy Thanksgiving Weekend, and I hope you are all enjoying time with your loved ones before December begins!

GOD bless!

Love, DollybyDesign 🙂

DollybyDesign: November Giveaway {Owl Always Be Thankful For You}

Whew! It has almost been one month since I last posted for DollybyDesign (and I am incredibly sorry about that folks)! For those of you who know me, I travel for my job, so today is my SECOND to last day of travel season! I just pulled into my driveway about 20 minutes ago from a trip, and I flew out the door to take pictures of this months giveaway before this month gets away from us all! I didn’t realize the Holidays would come so quickly, but I feel like every year because they sneak up on me {I am really working on being organized and ready for this holiday season with DollybyDesign, with my photography, and with work as well}. Anyway, so excuses aside, I am officially posting November’s giveaway! Hooray! Finally!

I know that last month’s giveaway was featured for babies, so I’m going to keep the baby theme for this month as well {because I know many of my friends and family have newborns, or young ones, who are celebrating their FIRST Thanksgiving this year}!

So the November FREE giveaway is: “Owl Always Be Thankful For You” Baby Burp Cloth & Bib Set!

                 2) SHARE a photo of the November Giveaway (it will show up that you have shared this from DollybyDesign, and the more you SHARE the photo…the more you have a chance to WIN)

                 3) HASHTAG: Use the Hashtag #DollybyDesign & #BabyLove with your Shared photo as well!

This contest will run from 11/12/13 to 11/20/13 (so I have plenty of time to ship you your loved one’s baby burp cloth set just in time for Thanksgiving!)

DollybyDesign Local Love Featuring: “A Matter Of Taste” Restaurant

Happy Wednesday everyone! I haven’t been able to post anything “local love” related due to my heavy travel season, but thankfully I planned ahead, visited this new local restaurant in Nashville a while back, and took some pictures (and saved them) for this feature! Many of you may already know this (because of my absolute transparency about my health on my Facebook posts) but I am gluten-intolerant so having a new diet has really restricted ALOT of my food options these past two months. When I was told that gluten was one of the causes of my migraines, I had to completely change everything about how I grocery shopped and where I went out to eat. I LOVE eating, and having someone tell me to cut back on gluten was like someone telling me I could never eat ANYTHING EVER AGAIN (yeah…I can be a bit dramatic) because for me all I eat are carbs on carbs on carbs (in bread form that is). And, might I add, one of my go-to meals has always been a bowl of soup and a HUGE sandwich. So when I was told about my new diet, I was extremely disappointed I wouldn’t be able to have a delicious sandwich again. Thankfully, after some research on some local Nashville gluten-free restaurants, I heard about this GLUTEN-FREE Sandwich/Soup place called “A Matter of Taste”.  I was a little skeptical because of the location of this business, but after actually getting seated, talking with the owner/hostess,  & seeing the atmosphere of the restaurant, all of my skepticism went out the window! I ordered an AMAZING sandwich and soup combo (both of which were gluten-free), so after eating I DIDN’T GET SICK!!!! {This was HUGE for me, because for over 1 year I had been getting sick at least once a day due to something I had eaten, and I was absolutely clueless about what was causing my health issues} So, every time I am actually in Nashville, and if I have a moment to eat out, I ALWAYS go to A Matter of Taste because that’s one restaurant where I DEF WON’T get sick, I love the management and atmosphere, AND there are so many delicious soup and sandwich combinations (WOO HOO!!!!) So, if you are ever in Nashville (or are a LOCAL of Nashville) please check out “A Matter of Taste” ESP if you are gluten-intolerant, or if you are on a specific diet! Did I mention that the bread literally melts in your mouth? Yeah, I love it!

So, if you are wanting to check out this delicious LOCAL restaurant, check out their Website: http://www.amatteroftastetakeout.com/index.html , don’t forget to “like” them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Matter-Of-Taste/111191802282843 , and give them a shout-out on Twitter: https://twitter.com/amottakeout

{Photos were taken on my iPhone 4s, so sorry about the bad image quality…but here are some images of this cute restaurant!}
